DOTA Autochess Strategy Guide
The game is the the usual typical chess game but rather it has the twist and needs a good strategy and a little bit of luck to pull off winning the game. In this guide, SvG.Wiz will discuss and provide details of the different alliances you can synergize and possible build from early to late game.
Early Game Opening Strategies:
At the start of the game, we always want to have a strong opening consisting of Warriors especially they can soak up the damage. Having a good early game is the key to success since we want to rake up more gold coins for better economy and more buying power of heroes late in the game. Considering that we can always sell our heroes for the full price and we can bench extra heroes as well. Have a good Warrior synergy will help because the key in winning early to mid game will be mostly physical damage and they can easily be transition to any strategy in the mid game.
Having a combination of warriors in the field provides the warriors with increased armor. Considering that early to mid game are mostly physical damage, then having +10, +15 and +25 armor is a great advantage.
Warriors: Axe, Tusk, Tiny, Slardar, Jugg, Lycan
Another strong opening would be inventor class which are mostly goblins and their alliance buff can easily be obtain having a +15 HP generation from Inventor Alliance and a random ally being granted with +15 armor and +10 HP regeneration from the Scrappy Alliance which is a big boost especially that scrappy and inventor alliance comes together in this hero class. The only downside with this type of team composition is that it would be difficult to transition into new alliances which means you might need to sell and replace them later part of the game unless you decide to have 6 team inventor and scrappy alliance benefit.
Inventors & Scrappy: Clockwerk, Timbersaw Tinker
Scrappy: Bounty Hunter
The easiest to build in terms of alliance buff would be the Druid Alliance considering you can easily get its buff bonus by having 2 units alone and having a 3 stars Lone Druid is a good tank in the game especially when you paired it with Furion and Lycan's unit summon.
Druids: Enchantress, Nature's Prophet, Lone Druid, Treant Protector
My favorite and want I always want to build early of the game is the Knight Alliance considering having 2 gives them 25% less physical and magic damage as long as they are standing 1 cell away from each other and you can easily transition to Dragon Alliance in the mid to late game.
Knight: Abaddon, Batrider, Chaos Knight, Dragon Knight, Luna, Omniknight
Mid Game Strategy:
The mid game would be around round 6 to 10 and at this time, you should start hording your gold to gain advantage of its interest. Having a good gold stock and consecutive winning in the game, give you higher chances of obtaining high tier heroes later of the game.
The Dragon class is the easiest to built and considering if you open with a knight alliance, you can easily transition thanks to Dragon Knight which can deal large does of AoE damage even late part of the game. Having built a dragon knight, we can always move to building the Mage Alliance which would sustain high damage late part of the game.
Dragon: Puck, Viper, Dragon Knight
Mage alliance are good start in transitioning from mid to late game. As mentioned before, early part of the game deals mostly with physical damage and having a late magical damage nuker is the key in winning in late game. If you decide to build Mage alliance from mid to late game, you should always remember to save Crystal Maiden early part of the game since a 3 star CM would provide 20 mana regen every 2 seconds which is a big boost in easily initiating each mage heroes' skills.
Mage: Crystal Maiden, Keeper of the Light, Lich, Lina, Ogre Magi, Puck, Razor
At this point of the game, you could already had built the Demon & Demon Hunter Alliance buff if you decided to have Anti Mage during early part of the game. Having both Anti-Mage and Terrorblade give you both Demon Hunter and Demon alliance buff which negate opponents demon alliance and additional +50% pure damage. Make sure to remember to only have 1 type of demon in field.
Demon & Demon Hunter: Anti-mage, Terrorblade
Demon: Chao Knight, Doom, Queen of Pain, Shadow Fiend
The Assassin alliance is another buff you can consider during mid game but I don't usually recommend it against an opponent who already built a strong Mage alliance. Assassins are difficult to recruit because getting its full buff would require 6 heroes to be in the field. But if you decide to go with Assassin alliance, I recommend using Templar and Phantom Assassin paired with Kunkka who have an AoE stun that would provide additional time for the assassins to deal damage to your opponents. Going with PA, TA and Bloodseeker would provide 10% chance to do critical hit for 300% of their damage. Always make sure to equip PA and TA with a speed increase item due to its critical passive and miss in the aforementioned heroes and I always recommend using Maelstrom in bloodseeker due to increasing attack speed as he losses life.
Assassins: Bounty Hunter, Morphling, Phantom Assassin, Queen of Pain, Sand King, Slark, Templar Assassin, Viper, Bloodseeker
Warlock alliance is another mid game buff you can start building until late game. If you decide to go with the warlock buff, you need to already have built a strong tank than can deal large damage like Dragon Knight in the early to mid part of the game. Having a good warlock alliance with low damage heroes somewhat negates its lifesteal buff.
Warlocks: Alchemist, Enigma, Necrophos, Shadow Fiend, Venomance, Witchdoctor, Warlock
Late Game Strategy:
At this point in time, you should already have horded lots of gold coins, so its now time to spend it upgrading your heroes while reaching at least level 9. The more heroes you have, the more damage you can deal with your opponent. Having a 2 star Tier 4 or 5 heroes is a big boost in the team. If you can easily defeat your opponents, try leveling to 10 but when you started losing, upgrade your heroes if possible.
Winning the game needs good experience, be a good strategist in the game and a bit of luck. Aside from having a good hero composition, you still need to create a good positioning for your team as well.
After reading this guide, hopefully it provides you a better understanding on how you can increase your chances of winning the game.
